WEEKEND PROJECT
Direct Conversion Receiver with 2 Transistors
Direct
conversion receivers are a joy to operate if they are well designed.
The "2 BJT RECEIVER" has a single balanced diode mixer, a tuneable VXO
and a single stage AF amplifier. This receiver is build within 2 hours
even for the less experienced ham. A 40m version is shown here.
However, this receiver will work on any other frequency between 3 and
30 MHz if fundamental mode crystals are used. Play with the values for
the capacitive divider in the base of the oscillator transistor if used
for other frequencies. It should well perform for 20/30/40m with the
give values here. Just change the crystal for other frequencies. A high
impedance headphone is mandatory. This receiver will not work with low
impedance headphones.
